Whitmuir Farm, Lamancha, West Linton, EH46 T. 01968 661908

The earth works...look after the beasties and the earth does the rest

About the farm
Whitmuir Organics is a small, organic farm in the Borders. Our plan is to grow for people we know and provide them with fresh, seasonal food when it's available.

While that might mean hours and hours of hand, rather than chemical, weeding and waiting a bit for strawberries, you can come and watch the plants growing, know where the food comes from and see how the animals are treated.

As an organic farm we are completely committed to the highest standards of animal welfare. Our pigs live in the woodland and on open ground in family groups with traditional pig arcs, they aren't kept in concrete sheds. Our hens are truly free range and can root and scratch around all day.

We can guarantee that salads aren't washed in chlorine and cucumbers aren't pumped full of water. The way we grow food leaves the earth in a better or at least as good a state as it was when we started.

Where we are
Whitmuir Farm is in Lamancha, on the A701. We are 4 miles four south of the Leadburn Inn and 2 miles north of West Linton, approximately 15 minutes from Peebles and 20 minutes from Hillend, Edinburgh, by car.

How it works
At Whitmuir Organics we are passionate about 'making food miles better' and 'growing for people we know'. And we're a small farm. So we're building a network of customers and supporters within a twenty mile radius (see map). Our farm shop is open seven days a week supplying our own fresh meat, vegetables and eggs together with a wide range of organic groceries, toiletries and wine.

We deliver large meat orders within our area, and we do have a regular delivery run for supporters in Edinburgh, where we make up individual orders including vegetables, eggs, meat and other specialities from the farm shop. However, we don't run a box scheme - to find one near you go to www.soilassociation.org

Farm supporters pay by regular standing orders. We let supporters know what we have available.   Supporters order the food they want, when they want it and we charge it to their account. Every three months we balance the accounts. It is that simple.
You get fresh, organic food at a good price. We grow for people we know and have some certainty of income.

Farm supporters can also regularly visit the farm to see what's going on. They are invited to information sessions and farm events.

If you would like to become a supporter of Whitmuir Organics please call us.
